Just a little taste...

This weekend was about disconnecting and relaxing before the slow reintroduction to my career and "real" life. It was also about doing a little writing, distraction-free.  Well, I've had enough distractions to halt my writing until a little earlier today.  I realized I have a lot of rewriting to do in my first 8 eight chapters (well, 7 and 8 are okay, but 1-6 need some big improvements). However, there is one little section I'm willing to share to the world as it is.  Here's a little excerpt from the novel/story I'm trying to finish. It's about a third way there.  I hope you enjoy the very small peak into my story.

From The Secret of The Windmill, Tiffany Pereira, publication date TBD...

It took almost 20 minutes to get to the dam, which was located on the west side of town. I walked over to the red car and then to the gurney.  Lifting the sheet off the face, I was expecting to see Diane Clemmons. What I saw though confused me.
"Detective Davis, this isn't the woman," I said.
"This is Diane Clemmons. Isn't she the one you saw in the restaurant?" he asked.
"No."
"How about the woman you saw in the car?"
"No. Both women were the same, but this isn't her. Although, she looks a lot like her. Something in the face is different. I can't put my finger on it," I said confused.
"Then who did you see?"
"Somebody who looks like her." And, this was the truth.
"Katrina, with all that you've told me and now after seeing the body up close, you might have stumbled onto something. This isn't a suicide. There's a reason why Diane Clemmons is dead and somebody is playing us for a fool," Detective Davis finished.  I was finally glad he was taking me seriously even if it took him to see the body with his own eyes.
"So, what do we do now?"
"WE don't do anything," he looked me right in the eye. "You are not a detective. We'll take it from here." He started towards his unmarked car.
"Where are you going? You gave me a ride, remember?" I reminded him. He looked back at me with a dry look. "And anyway," I continued, "you'll want to talk to both Seth and Colby since they were at the restaurant, too, and since I'm staying in the same house as them..."
"Get in," he cut me off.
If I didn't know better, I think I was finally wearing him down.

*End excerpt*

I hope you liked this little peak into my story. I'm going to get back to it now. Going backwards is hard but chapters 7 & 8 flowed just so much better when I changed a few things so I need to go back and change them in 1-6. It'll take me awhile but when I get to chapter 9, it'll go a lot faster now that I have the story more where I want it.
